Anne Waiguru hints at defending her seat on UDA ticket

Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru has given an indication she is headed to DP William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA), after days of speculation on what her next political move was. Speaking to residents of Kirinyaga county on Wednesday afternoon, the first term county boss agreed to defend her seat on the wheelbarrow party next year.

Responding to residents who agreed to her move in unison thereby endorsing her decamping from the ruling Jubilee Party to UDA, Governor Waiguru said her move was informed by the wishes of her people who are the voters on the ground.

Mtanirusidha 2022 kama governor wa Kirinyaga?… Mliskia nikisema mimi naskiza watu wa Kirinyaga? Nilisema nitafanya vile watu wa Kirinyaga wanasema. Kwa sababu mumesema mutanirudisha, mnataka nikuje na chama gani huku Kirinyaga? Nikuje na chama gani? posed Waiguru as the crowd chanted UDA.

The governor is yet to announce if she will be defending her seat next year, or if she will be going to the national table for the Deputy President’s position.
