Governor Tolgos explains why he will vote Raila next year

1 min read

Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos has declared he will be casting his presidential vote to Raila Odinga in next year’s August elections. Tolgos, who is a member of KANU was addressing the public over the weekend in Moiben, during the burial of Susan Tiren, mother to area MP Silas Tiren.

”We must respect each other and work for our people. Even me, I have crossed over to Raila Odinga’s camp. People have been calling me names yet they were with Raila in the past,” the Elgeyo Marakwet county boss said, adding Rift Valley leaders currently opposed to the ODM leader’s bid were at one time supporting him.

”The good things they saw in Raila in 2007, are the same ones I am seeing in him at the moment,” Governor Tolgos explained.

Tolgos is among veteran politicians in the Rift Valley region serving their final terms as governors.

Even though the governor is a staunch KANU member and supports its leader Gideon Moi, his declaring he is supporting Mr. Odinga’s bid could be another clearest indication yet, that KANU will eventually decamp from or lead One Kenya Alliance (OKA) into an alliance with Raila Odinga.
