Gender and Public Service CS nominee Aisha Jumwa has absolved herself from any wrongdoing in the killing of Mzee Ngubao Chalo in 2018.
Appearing before the CS vetting committee in the National Assembly on Tuesday, Ms. Jumwa said the cases against her were politically instigated, prompting the DPP to drop one of the charges she faces on misappropriation of public money.
”I don’t own a gun and I have never applied for a gun. My cases were politically instigated. The DPP dropped the case on the misappropriation of funds. In the murder trial, I empathise with the family because it is unfortunate. I am clear in my mind I never shot anyone. I am not a gun holder,” she said, adding that three witnesses have testified in court and she has not been mentioned by anyone of the three.

Ms. Jumwa is accused of killing Mr. Ngumbao in 2018 during campaigns for Ganda Ward by-election. She is accused jointly with her aide Geoffrey Okuto. At least three witnesses have testified in their case.
The case was initially scheduled for a hearing on October 26.
