Young Garissa senator joins Raila’s camp

Garissa Senator Haji Yusuf is the new entrant in Raila Odinga’s 2022 camp, where the youthful senator is enlisted as one of the representatives of Northern Kenya’s interests in the ODM leader’s inner circles and will play a critical role in ensuring his region votes for Raila to the last man.

On Tuesday, when Raila met the Eastleigh business community Senator Yusuf is said to have been one of the identified leaders who will be championing for the members of the community’s interests going forward.

At the meeting, the ODM leader was put to task to explain his remarks over the ongoing revenue allocation debate in which he compared Kiambu and Mandera counties.

“I said it’s not fair to the people of Kiambu and I also qualified and said that does not mean we deprive Mandera of its right and I said give Mandera its right but let Kiambu people also get their right,” Raila said.

The former PM made the statement when he addressed residents on his way from a church service in Kigumo, Murang’a County. He gave a comparison where a county will less population received more in allocation, compared to one with more people.

His statement raised protests from Northeastern leaders who claimed that Raila has always been against the devolution of resources that have been going to Northeastern counties.
