Uhuru Kenyatta has flatly refused President William Ruto’s request for a meeting this Thursday.
According to insiders around the Jubilee leader and sources within UDA, President Ruto sent Captain Kungu Muigai as an emissary to convince Mr. Kenyatta to accept his invitation. Kungu is Uhuru Kenyatta’s cousin.
Azimio’s Mass Action plan is scheduled for tomorrow after Azimio leader Raila Odinga gave the ruling regime an ultimatum of 14 days to lower the cost of living at the Jevanjee Gardens in Nairobi.
Uhuru Kenyatta has not recognised William Ruto as President and maintains Raila Odinga is his leader, and he (Uhuru) is firmly in Azimio. He also stated in Kisumu last month that he is retired as president but not tired.
Speaking to the crowd at the Azimio prayer rally two weeks ago, Raila Odinga gave the Kenya Kwanza government 14 days to reduce the high cost of living and lower taxes, failure of which he will lead Kenyans to the streets.
“Withdrawal of subsidies to food and education in the middle of drought and famine was reckless and heartless. Consequently, the subsidies must be restored, and the cost of basic commodities and taxes must come down in the next 14 days,” he said.
Raila has been traversing the country and meeting Kenyans in his people’s forums, demanding Azimio’s demands be responded to in 14 days.
