Last week on Tuesday a video that has now gone viral online shows President Salva Kiir Mayardit of South Sudan urinating on himself at a public function, to the dismay of his aides and military officers nearby.
Salva Kiir Mayardit who has been the President of the country since its independence on 9 July 2011 peed himself during the recitation of the national anthem.
The South Sudan administration is said to be accusing the journalists present of disgracing their president while at the same time, others are saying the press did the right thing by exposing the President as medically unfit to lead a country.
The journalists who covered the state event are reportedly missing one by one, others are being found dead.
Mr Mayardit, 71, has been the president of the troubled country since its founding in 2011 and has continued to preside over a protracted conflict that has kept them underdeveloped, with about 82 percent of the South Sudanese living in poverty.
It is not clear whether Mr. Mayardit will seek to extend his 13-year grip on power with clear underlying health issues, but the country will be marching to the polls in 2023 for the first time since its founding.
