Ruto postpones naming of running mate over Mt Kenya West concerns

1 min read

Deputy President William Ruto will not name his running mate under the joint United Democratic Alliance (UDA) over what an insider describes as ‘serious concerns’ about the demands from the people of Mt Kenya West and the Kikuyu nation which already feels dissatisfied with the power-sharing deal between UDA, Ford-Kenya and ANC deposited at the Registrar of Political Parties last week.

The insider discloses Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, one of the Mt Kenya MPs on DP Ruto’s running mate list has asked the Kenya Kwanza legal team to revise details of the deal submitted to the Registrar so that it has in writing, Mt Kenya coffee farmers’ assurance of a Minumum Guaranteed Return as well as how small scale businessmen and women from Mt Kenya West are to benefit from the UDA government – if the runningmate is picked from Mt Kenya East.
