William Ruto turning himself into a Maasai warrior announced that Kajiado County will handle the Amboseli National Park revenue.

That is a good idea but it will have implications that Ruto has not even thought about as expected from him.

Yes, the counties should control the big income earning parastatals in institutions in their counties. Amboseli is just one of them.

Next is Tsavo National Park in Taita Taveta County. That should be their money. Skip the parks and go to a place like the Mombasa International Port. That income should belong to the County of Mombasa.

And then we have the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) which could have income in excess of billions if managed properly. That should be for Kisumu, Siaya, Migori, and Busia counties to manage.

So yes, that was a good move by Ruto but the boundaries are beyond imagination and I am sure Ruto never even thought about that.

Here we go.

And then the same should apply to Mombasa International Port where revenue goes to Mombasa County while the national government gets its tax to help run the port.

Then we have Nairobi National Park, one of the most beautiful places in the universe. That revenue should go to Nairobi County.

We have Maasai Mara, Mount Kenya National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park and so many others.

Those national assets should be managed and the revenue goes to the Counties where they are located. That is how Devolution works.
