Soy MP Caleb Kositany is Deputy President William Ruto’s preferred choice for the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat in 2022. This publication can authoritatively reveal.

Speaking from Eldoret on Sunday, the former Jubilee Deputy SG said he had made a decision to run for the seat in the next general elections and was ready to face his opponents, both within UDA and at the ballot.

Multiple sources within UDA say DP Ruto has settled on the Soy legislator to replace Governor Mandago because of his loyalty and effectiveness in pushing for the DP’s agenda within Jubilee Party and also in the National Assembly. Kositany and his Kapsaret counterpart Oscar Sudi are the most vocal allies of the DP from Uasin Gishu.

Apart from Mr. Kositany, business mogul Zedekaih Bundotich of Buzeki Enterprises has also thrown his hat on the ring after unsuccessfully going for the seat in 2017, but lost to the current governor.

Apart from the Soy MP and Buzeki, other aspirants are  Julius Bitok, Nairobi County environment executive Veska Kangogo, Eldoret businessman Jonathan Bii, former Teachers Service Commission (TSC) vice-chair Cleophas Tirop and Uasin Gishu County Assembly Chief Whip David Singoei.
