Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has denied involvement in yesterday’s attempt on Raila Odinga’s life at the burial of the late Mzee Jackson Kibor where the former prime minister and his team were ambushed by a group of militia and his chopper stoned.

Speaking on Saturday, Governor Mandago said he also had his car stoned during the attack and wondered how he would organize for the crashing of his own vehicle.

”I will never condone any manner of violence in Uasin Gishu or anywhere in the country, I took personal initiative to activate peace forums in Uasin Gishu to manage peace in our region. I welcome Inspector General’s directive to hunt down all the perpetrators,” Mandago said on Saturday.

”I however, urge the Hon Junet Muhammed and Babu Owino to be honest and tell Kenyans the true account of what happened. It is my vehicle and personal bodyguards who took the Raila Odinga’s team to the waiting helicopter. In fact, the windscreen of the same car was shuttered in the process. This was partly a case of security lapse in the side of former Prime Minister’s handlers,” he added.

Already, the police have arrested 14 individuals in a sting operation that kicked off last night in Kabanes.
