Marjan Hussein Marjan appointed IEBC CEO months after Chiloba’s exit

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Wafula Chebukati says Marjan Hussein Marjan who has been the acting CEO of the electoral body has been confirmed as its Chief Executive Officer. He becomes the first non-lawyer to lead IEBC in that position.

”The Commission congratulates Mr Marjan on his new appointment as the Commission’s Secretary/CEO of the IEBC,” said IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati.

2017 deputy CEO Nancy Wanjiku, Mabonga Joel, Zephaniah Okeyo, and George Michugu were among the nominees for the position, together with Marjan from a list of over 500 applicants.

Hussein Marjan hold an  MBA in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi and BCom (Accounting Option) from the same institution.

He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certification in Control Self-Assessment (CCSA), Certified Quality Assessor (CQA), and is also a practicing Member of ICPAK in good standing.

Mr. Marjan is also a member of Information Systems Audit & Control Association (ISACA) as well as a member of Institute Internal Auditor (IIA).
