Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero over the weekend met Baringo Senator Gideon Moi in Nairobi – three days after being cleared by the Registrar of political parties to run as Governor for Homabay in the upcoming August polls on an Independent ticket.
On Saturday Dr. Kidero and the KANU Chair attended the memorial service of Mzee Njogu Wainanina, father to the current KANU executive director George Wainaina in Kambu county.
A source confides to this publication the former Nairobi governor could be seeking additional campaign resources from the Gideon Moi- Uhuru Kenyatta axis, a duo he boasts of enjoying a close relationship with.

As Nairobi governor between 2013 and 2017, Dr. Kidero developed strong ties with President Kenyatta and was seen by many ODM supporters in the city as being used by the president at that time not only to contain Raila Odinga in the city but also to prop him (Kidero) as an alternative Luo leader he could work with in future. It badly flopped.
This would later cost Dr. Kidero, leading to a fall-out with ODM and its leadership prior to the 2017 polls which he lost to Mike Sonko, despite being handed a direct ticket by the orange party.
Is President Uhuru back at it again? Covertly backrolling Dr. Kidero’s Homabay campaign through Senator Gideon Moi?
Homabay county gubernatorial race is one of the hotly contested seats in this election and will see Woman Rep Gladys Wanga, the ODM candidate face off with Dr. Kidero’s Independent ticket.
