Governor Kiraitu Murungi says the decision by Agriculture CS Peter Munya to continue serving in President Uhuru’s government and not resign to pursue the Meru gubernatorial seat in August was a relief, considering Munya was his main competitor for the seat.

At a presser on Wednesday afternoon, the first-term governor seeking re-election wholeheartedly thanked the Agriculture CS and vowed to work together with him without any conditions.

“So for me as governor who was expecting him as my main competitor, I must say congratulations and thank you to him. It makes my work a bit easier.

We had planned a very elaborate campaign and you have heard me say before because this is going to be my last campaign. I was going to throw everything into it to ensure that I win again. So if my brother has made my life easier then this is a gift to me from God.

Even the bible says there is a time and a season for everything under the sun, so sisi tuko tayari kufanya kazi including with the CS himself and his supporters and we have no conditions,” Kiraitu said.

The governor will defend his ticket using the Devolution Empowerment Party.
