Ministry of Tourism Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua earlier today held talks with U.S Ambassador to Kenya H.E Meg Whitman during a courtesy call at his offices in Nairobi.

The two held a discussion focused on mutual interests, exploring the potential for American investors to establish tourist facilities in the country’s parks and reserves through private-public partnership arrangements.

Ambassador Whitman committed to support the marketing of Kenya as a premier tourist destination in the U.S.

Dr. Mutua proposed a strategy involving exchange programs, where young American students visit Kenya’s attractions, capturing their experiences to share with the larger American public.

The aim will be to transform these young visitors into ambassadors for Kenyan tourism upon their return to the U.S Implementing some of these strategies and many others could help Kenya effectively target and attract more American tourists by raising awareness about the country’s attractions and creating appealing travel experiences for this market segment.

The Cabinet Secretary also stressed the need for those in the hospitality and tourism sector to observe the basics and ensure high standards as they relentlessly push for higher tourist arrival numbers.

Accompanying Dr. Mutua were Principal Secretaries Sylvia Museiya, Wildlife and John Ololtuaa, Tourism.
