Govt Constructing Modern Passenger Terminal at Karenga Airstrip

The county government of Kericho will donate land to the national government for the expansion of Karenga Airstrip.

Speaking on Saturday in Kericho, Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen revealed the facility will have a modern passenger terminal once the plans to upgrade are complete.

”The people of Kericho County and its environs for far too long have yearned for an airport that will facilitate transportation of people and goods from and into the region. Their desire will soon be a reality.

”Our plan is to extend the runway to two (2) Kilometers for maximum utilization of the facility. To achieve it, the county government of Kericho will donate more land. We shall also build a modern passenger terminal,” CS Murkomen said.

The CS explained that his ministry is implementing the national aviation policy whose objective is to open up the nation’s air transport sector and attract more investment hence creating jobs and growing the economy.

He was accompanied by the Governor of Kericho Hon. Erick Mutai, the Senate Majority Leader Sen. Aaron Cheruiyot, the Women Rep Hon. Beatrice Kemei, Area members of Parliament Hon. Nelson Koech and Hon.Benjamin Lang’at, MCAs, national and county government officials and other dignitaries.
