Deputy President William Ruto and his main competitor in the August 2022 election Raila Odinga could share a podium this Friday in Uasin Gishu county at the late Mzee Jackson Kibor’s Kabenes Farm in Eldoret, where the late business mogul and veteran politician will be laid to rest.

Mzee Kibor, who passed after a long illness on March 17th at St. Luke’s Hospital in Eldoret enjoyed a close relationship with DP William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga whom he worked with in ODM and was among top supporters of the former prime minister in the North Rift.

Kibor was thrust into the limelight in 1992 when he was the powerful Kanu chairman for Uasin Gishu.

In 2020 Mzee Kibor said Raila Odinga had worked hard for the country and should be given a chance to lead, even as a ceremonial president.

“I know Odinga as a very wise person who means very well for this country,” Kibor said at that time.

In the same interview, Mzee Kibor also described his relationship with DP Ruto and how he once advised him to be humble if he wanted to lead the country as its president.

“I once went to Ruto’s home in Eldoret where I told him he should humble himself and be wise if he wants to lead. I regret he is the opposite of that,” the veteran politician said.
