Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday, March 3, 2024 delivered a powerful message of unity and progress for the Mt. Kenya region, stressing the vital importance of remaining united under the Ruto Administration for enhanced development.
Addressing a gathering at ACK Good Samaritan Nyangwa Church in Mbeere South Constituency, Embu County, during a fundraiser for the church’s completion, the Deputy President emphasized the region’s strength in unity, declaring, “Our unity is our strength. Never again will we be divided along the sub-regions because we suffered for a long time when that happened.”
Highlighting the positive impact of unity on development, Gachagua emphasized the region’s achievements when speaking with one voice, stating, “From 2002 when we have been united, we have benefitted from the government because of our unity. We must not be divided because that will be our downfall.”
In a commitment to address water shortages and boost agricultural production, Gachagua announced a substantial allocation of Sh2.1 billion for water projects in Mbeere South and Mbeere North. With Sh330 million already disbursed for ongoing projects, the Deputy President assured swift completion of initiatives like the Kamburu, Kiambere, and Masinga projects within three years.
Furthermore, Gachagua pledged intensified efforts against illicit brews and drugs, aiming to safeguard the youth from harmful substances. He commended collaborative efforts between the Governor and national administration officers in combating these vices.
The Deputy President also lauded the ACK Mbeere Diocese for launching a Boda Boda Ministry to address alcoholism and substance abuse among operators, urging other churches to adopt similar initiatives for societal betterment.
