Kandara MP Alice Wahome says Deputy President William Ruto is ready to face off with ODM leader Raila Odinga, backed by President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022. Speaking from her constituency on Wednesday, the vocal legislator wondered why the ODM leader though he can pose a challenge to their camp yet he had not prepared his political vehicle for 2022.
”Raila Odinga thinks he can threaten the deputy president. We ask him to prepare his own political vehicle for 2022. Ours is ready, we are busy doing recruitment everyday under UDA. We are not interested in Tsunamis. We know the tsunami will be done by the people of Kenya,” the MP said.
On the issue of current debate on the postponement of next year’s general elections, Ms Wahome said it was wishful thinking to try push forward the August 2022 polls, that the presidential term limit is clearly spelt out in the current constitution.
”There is no election that is going to be postponed in this country. The constitution allows election for every five years. Kenyans are ready for new leadership. Kenyans want a new leadership,” she added.
The MP also says they expect a win at the Court of Appeal and has expressed confidence in the higher court bench led by Justice Daniel Musinga. The staunch Ruto called on the judges to be guided by the constitution and the law.
”The seven judges will sit. I have seen the list of the judges and I know they are judges of sufficient wisdom, legal intelligence and independence. Those who are not for the BBI are looking for a bigger at the Court of Appeal or even up to the Supreme Court.”
