Why DP Ruto sent his younger brother David to Kisumu on Saturday

Deputy President William Ruto’s younger brother David is a man on a special mission. On Saturday, his eldest brother, William, sent him to Kisumu a territory considered to be hostile and under the grip of ODM leader Raila Odinga to test political waters.

In what seems like a change of tact in engaging with the people of Kisumu, multiple sources reveal David is on a fact finding mission, in areas deemed to be against DP Ruto’s candidature, to guage the mood and create local networks before his big brother, William makes political visits in the regions.

“I do not work for the Government. I am equivalent to a messenger, I visit any part of the country in discriminatory as every part of Kenya is important. I witness the problems and speak to the area MP for an amicable solution,” David Ruto said in 2019 when asked about his tours across the country.

“We just do not want to hear stories from people of problems that residents in an area are facing.”

David conducted a fundraiser for Nyamasaria bodaboda riders in the lakeside city, a move meant to appeal to the constituency before the DP makes a grand tour of the city.
