President Uhuru Kenyatta gifted President Evariste Ndayishimiye 50 cows during his visit to Kenya last year, where the Burundi leader was the Guest of Honor at the Madaraka Day celebrations held in Kisumu’s Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium last year May.
Last evening, the Ministry of Foreign affairs revealed Agriculture CS Peter Munya was in Burundi to deliver the Mandela cow, which the Head of State handed President Ndashimiye together with 50 high-yielding dairy heifers.
The high-yielding cows were presented to President Ndayishimiye together with his first lady Angeline Ndayubah at the State Lodge, Kisumu where he was received by President Kenyatta.

During the Burundian leader visit, the two presidents signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance collaboration between the two countries. Kenya and Burundi also agreed to collaborate on matters agriculture, livestock, fisheries, foreign affairs, and education.
Ndayishimiye was sworn in on June 18th, 2020 following the death of former President Pierre Nkurunziza who died on June 8th, 2020.
