Azimio flagbearer Raila Odinga and his Kenya Kwanza competitor William Ruto must insist on the transparency of August 2022 elections, especially on the presidential vote, and put to task IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati to explain to Kenyans how prepared they are for the upcoming polls.
This is according to a source who spoke to this writer on condition of anonymity, disclosing the yet to be published 2022 electronic voter register is already in the hands of a leading political camp, something that could greatly influence the credibility of our elections.
”Claims by UDA that 1 million votes had been removed from their stronghold should not be taken at face value. Who has the updated voter’s register revealing these votes were moved as Ruto alleged? Kenyans should know. One camp has a copy of our updated 2022 voter’s register,” the source, a senior officer from the IEBC warned.

Speaking on Thursday at his Karen residence during a consultive meeting with European Union diplomats, DP William Ruto alleged that some officials of the IEBC and the government were working to sabotage the forthcoming elections in favour of his rivals.
”So far about a million names have somehow disappeared from the IEBC register and are in the public domain…I think that the IEBC has said it is doing some remedial steps. It is however obvious and clear to us that there are functionaries in government who want to undermine the capacity of the IEBC to deliver a credible and transparent democratic election,” the UDA presidential candidate said.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced yesterday the official voter’s roll will be gazetted on or before June 9th after the expiration of the voter verification process on June 2nd- an exercise that allows eligible voters to confirm their information.
