Ruto Orders Review of SRC’s Salary Hike for State Officers

1 min read

President William Ruto has directed the National Treasury to review a 2023 gazette notice issued by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) that increased the salaries of state officers.

This decision follows Public Service CS Moses Kuria’s refusal to implement the pay increase for public servants, including Principal Secretaries and Cabinet Secretaries.

CS Kuria has urged the SRC to withdraw the gazette notice, emphasizing the need for public servants to make the same sacrifices expected of other Kenyans.

President Ruto’s directive aligns with the government’s stance on living within its means and reflects a broader effort to manage public finances responsibly.
