Raila Odinga has no plans to replace Senator James Orengo as the ODM Minority leader in the Senate. This is according to the latest statement from the ODM leader’s spokesperson, Dennis Onyango. On Wednesday, reports were rife online, with a section of the media claiming ODM ax was about to fall on the Siaya Senator after Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo was kicked from JLAC.
”Following changes effected on Wednesday to the representation of the Orange Democratic Movement in the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, there have been unfounded and widespread speculation that the Party is about to change its Minority leadership in the Senate,” Mr. Onyango’s statement read in part, adding:
“We wish to clarify that Rt. Hon Raila Odinga, the ODM Party Leader and the Orange Democratic Movement have no plans to replace Senator James Orengo as the Leader of Minority in the Senate.”
Senator Orengo, together with MP Otende Amollo represented ODM in the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee. However, MP Amollo was kicked out from the committee and his position taken by Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang.
Both Orengo and Amollo have been at loggerheads with the ODM leadership over a clause in the BBI, allocating 70 additional constituencies.
