Raila Odinga Junior, son of ODM leader Raila Odinga has given the Registrar of Political Parties Ms. Anne Nderitu 24 hours to delist him from the Amani National Congress (ANC) Party. Raila Jr, a life member of the Orange Democratic Movement, is among a number of Kenyans unlawfully listed as members of the Musalia Mudavadi led party on the e-Citizen platform.

Through his lawyers, Raila Junior demands the office should delete his details from their register and also give him an explanation why his name was in the ANC party’s register without his consent.

”I have instructed my lawyer to write to seek clarity as to why I was there without my knowledge or consent. I understand there is a class of Kenyans who face a similar predicament. We demand that your office rectifies your records by deleting our client’s details from ANC party and properly listing him in ODM immediately and in any event within 24 hrs from receipt and thereafter confirm the rectification with those parties,” he said.

On Saturday, the office of the Registrar of Political Parties defended itself after Kenyans took to social media to protest being registered as members of political parties without their knowledge.

”Recruitment of members is done by political parties in line with respective party constitutions; section 7, Political Parties Act, 2011, second schedule to Political Parties Act paragraph six,” Ms. Nderitu’s office said in a statement.
