President Uhuru has sidelined Rift Valley projects, DP Ruto

Deputy President William Ruto has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of neglecting state projects in the Rift Valley region on his second term, something he attributes the Handshake with Raila Odinga and the attempt to change the constitution through the flopped Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

Speaking at Kedowa in Kericho, the Ruto said stalled multi-billion-shilling water projects which include Itare and Bosto in Bomet had been sabotaged by politics after the handshake but promised to ensure the projects are completed.

”We had the Big Four agenda when we were elected. It included the creation of employment, boosting agriculture, and the Universal Health Care (UHC). The plan we had initially was sabotaged by the handshake which led to the split of Jubilee. Our number one priority next year will be the projects that we had set in our manifesto when we came to power in 2013 and those others anchored in the Big 4 agenda but were not realized,” DP Ruto said, while also hitting out at the Head of State for trying to change the constitution.

”You cannot achieve inclusivity by changing the Constitution and creating two or three positions, you can only realize it by building a national political party where all communities, can feel at home,” he added.

The DP also attacked ODM boss Raila Odinga for being the cause of current turmoil in government saying Odinga had confused the government by his handshake with President Uhuru as well as the BBI.

”He (Raila Odinga) said nobody can stop reggae and forgot there is God in heaven. Despite him wasting our four years with the BBI, we will fulfil the big four agenda next year when am elected. We planned the operations of this government with the President. The rest of them have no idea what our plan is all about. They have no network or plan,” he added.
