Oparanya: I’m in charge of Azimio la Umoja in Western

Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya says he is in charge of the Azio la Umoja Movement in Western Kenya and has promised to rally the entire Mulembe nation into the umbrella political movement.

Speaking in Kakamega county on Wednesday, Oparanya, also one of the two Deputy ODM leaders said the Luhyia community lacks a leader to fight for its position at the national table and he will take up that role.

”I’m in charge of Azimio la Umoja in Western. I will ensure we get the majority of the elective seats to seal the region as Azimio la Umoja zone,” the governor said.

Currently, Governors Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), Wilberforce Otichillo (Vihiga), Sospeter Ojaamong (Busia), Wycliffe Wamangati (Bungoma), and Patrick Khaemba (Transnzoia) have expressed their support for Raila Odinga’s 2022 presidential quest.

Currently, ODM leader Raila Odinga also enjoys the backing of the newly formed Democratic Action Party (DAP-K) associated with Defense CS Eugene Wamalwa, who has also thrown his weight behind the former prime minister’s bid.
