ODM-UDA 2027 election deal must be 50:50 Oburu Oginga says
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Dr. Oburu Oginga has insisted that any talks between the party and the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ahead of the next General Election must be based on a 50-50 power-sharing formula.
Dr. Oburu said the anticipated negotiations between the two parties would provide an opportunity to discuss key issues, including the presidency.
“When we form a coalition agreement with UDA, it will be based on a 50-50 share, making us stronger. We will even negotiate on the presidency; we will not leave any seat unnegotiated,” he said.
At the same time, the Siaya Senator urged ODM leaders to put aside their differences and work together for their constituents and for all Kenyans.
The ODM leader was speaking during a meeting with a group of politicians from Taita Taveta County who had visited him to seek solutions to challenges affecting the region.
Oburu was accompanied by Busia Woman Representative Catherine Omanyo, Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga, and Kisumu Central MP Joshua Oron, who echoed the call for unity within ODM, saying it would strengthen the party’s position in any negotiations with the ruling UDA party.
One thing Kenyans have come to appreciate about the new ODM leader, Oburu Oginga is that he simply states the truth about his party and their alliance partner President William Ruto.
He never tries to manipulate anything in their party political platform. As of now Oburu Odinga and his ODM team have made it clear to Kenyans they are going for a united government where ODM will not be a bystander just sitting by and feeling that at least they are in a government where they have no power at all.
ODM under Oburu Oginga are also blessed by the fact they have a very competent team of national leaders who are daily winning the confidence of Kenyans all across the country who are doing everything in their own rights political areas to put ODM soundly in the national map specifically for the 2027 elections.

In terms of protecting her political base, Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga issued a defiant message regarding the political landscape in Nyanza, asserting that protecting the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party is her absolute priority above all other political considerations.
“We will defend our party. We will protect our party, and defending our party comes number one before anything else. That our parliamentary strength is not reduced even by an inch,” Wanga said.
Wanga champions Homa Bay’s rise as devolution’s success story
13th August, 2025

Homa Bay County Governor Gladys Wanga has lauded the county’s rapid development over the past three years, crediting strong collaboration with the national government for turning the once little-known region into a model of devolution success.
Speaking on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, during the Devolution Conference in Homa Bay, Wanga said most of the county’s visible progress has taken place since President William Ruto took office.
“I’m taking the opportunity to thank you immensely for your partnership to transform Homa Bay County to make it a county that could host this Devolution Conference,” she told the President.
“And most of the development in this county has happened in the last three years. When you first visited Homa Bay on January 16, 2023, three-quarters of the development we are seeing here has been done under this government.”
She singled out major infrastructure improvements as evidence of this transformation as well as massive Affordable Housing in her county and across the country.
“The dualling of the highway in this county is something we could have dreamt of. All the roads and infrastructure we have seen in this country are because of the partnership with the national government. The transformation at the lakefront is because of the partnership with the national government,” she said.
Describing Homa Bay as a model of devolution’s potential, Wanga said the county had moved from being a little-known county at ‘Mwisho wa Lami’ to hosting the 2025 Devolution Conference.
The affordable housing projects launched in Homabay are phenomenon actually nothing like existed and nobody expected massive housing to be rolling and soon ready to take in residents. That is a big game changer for Homabay residents and it is great for them and for their lives.

If truth be said, what Kenyans are seeing now in many counties like the Homabay Housing projects is something Kenyan citizens have not seen or even thought possible in the last 66 years since independence.
That is going to be a big deal for the counties and national politics that is going to be in everybody’s face in the next election. Those houses are visible and people are going to be living there and that means this was not a remote promise on paper which nobody sees.
“Along the lake front, there were government offices, a small office carrying approximately 30 people sitting in 7 acres of land; the rest of the land has broken-down vehicles,” Wanga explained
Another brilliant leader in ODM today who appeals to millions of Kenyans across the country is Kisii governor Simba Arati who is merging as a very calm and focused leader in Kenya.

In a recent survey by Politrack Africa, Simba Arati was recognized as one of the best-performing governors in Kenya, reflecting his effective leadership and commitment to addressing key issues affecting his constituents
Governor Simba Arati continues to work towards making Kisii County a better place for its residents through sustainable development and inclusive governance. His leadership style and initiatives have garnered significant support from the community, positioning him as a prominent figure in Kenyan politics

Arati Reveals Why He Joined Hands With Ruto
Kisii Governor Simba Arati has defended his cooperation with President William Ruto’s administration, insisting that development and service delivery are more important than political rivalry ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during consultative forums attended by community leaders, teachers, clergy, women groups, boda boda riders, community policing teams and social media influencers across Kisii County, Arati said leaders should be judged by the impact they make on people’s lives rather than their political affiliations.
He said his administration has prioritized projects aimed at improving residents’ welfare, including bursaries for needy students, free milk programs for ECDE learners, road construction and expanded healthcare services.
Arati noted that the county bursary initiative has helped many vulnerable children stay in school despite the harsh economic situation affecting numerous families.
“We committed ourselves to delivering development, and that is what we are doing. Through bursaries, many parents are getting support in educating their children, while ECDE learners continue to benefit from the free milk program that boosts both nutrition and learning,” he said.
Another emerging national leader is making his mark as the Mombasa Governor Abdullswamad Sherrif Nassir who is coming out as one of the most competent people in that job they way he is turning the lives Mombasa resident around.

Broad-Based government driving tremendous growth in Mombasa – Nassir

Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Sharrif Nassir has lauded the broad-based government initiative, saying that it has yielded significant benefits to the locals.
The Governor was speaking during the commissioning of the Mombasa Commuter Service Railway at the newly built Kenya Railway Mombasa terminus.
Ruto officially commissions Mombasa commuter rail service

President William Ruto on Wednesday officially opened the Mombasa Commuter Rail Service, offering residents an affordable and reliable travel option at just Sh50 for a round trip between the Mombasa SGR terminus at Miritini and Mombasa Central Railway Station.
The move is expected to ease congestion, cut commuting time, and provide a safer and more predictable journey for thousands of passengers.
He termed the broad-based government as the eye-opener to the fruits of the broad-based government.
“It is good that we remind ourselves of the past. We have been patient with this regime, and this is what we can say we have achieved as a people.”
Nassir said the prosperity and progress of any area solely depend on the status of security.
“We have been at the forefront in championing the rights of our citizens in so many ways, the security of our people and the issues of land injustices,” he noted
As Kenyans take a look at the desperate opposition figures who right have no clue what they want to do and achieve for Kenyans it is nice to look what ODM leaders are doing and achieving for their country because at the end of the day that is what leadership of a country is all about.
Now let’s wait and see what the UDA and ODM negotiations tea are going to offer to Kenyans and the voters will decide based on what they think makes sense to them and will help them improves their lives and the lives of their young ones.
To end this long story which may need a book and not a little article, the reality is that in the next year which is the election years, all politicians and not just ODM and UDA will be talking to Kenyans about what they have achieved for them to improve their lives.
You can attack other politicians as much as you want but the big question Kenyans want to know is what have you done for your constituents and for Kenya to convince the citizens to vote for you on August 8, 2027, which is just one year from now.
It is going to take way more than the usual insults and tribal threats from politicians to make Kenyans vote for anybody. People are awake and they know where they are going and may force the politicians to follow them rather than the other way around.
That is what is coming next for our politicians. It is going to be very sweet for them or maybe not, but it is going to be great for the country and for all Kenyans.
