Kirinyaga Woman Rep Purity Ngirici has for the first time openly differed with Deputy President William Ruto and her United Democratic Alliance (UDA) allies, saying she is no longer bitter about the Handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
In an interview with a local publication, the Woman Rep who has since taken a backseat from DP William Ruto’s political activities in recent days says Governor Waiguru’s defection to UDA opened her eyes and is now looking at politics differently.
”The president only got a new friend who was his political arch-rival. The move calmed the country and the protests became a thing of the past. I am now no longer bitter about the move since Waiguru’s defection opened my eyes,” Woman Rep Ngirici said.
The Woman Rep who is now on her way to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s fold also disclosed she will never accompany Deputy President William Ruto in his political campaigns and that she no longer peg her hopes on being elected governor under UDA.
However, she says she will attend Ruto’s Gichugu event this Sunday, considering he will be in her county.
”I no longer peg my hopes of being elected governor to Ruto. I entirely depend on God and the people of Kirinyaga.Andu a Kirinyaga matihakagwo macuru (Kirinyaga people do not entertain being smeared with porridge),” she continued.
Adding: ”You will never hear or see me climbing a campaign truck conducting presidential campaigns. I will concentrate here (Kirinyaga) and that is why I will attend his (Ruto’s) meeting in the county on Sunday mainly because it’s within my jurisdiction and area of representation.”
