Kikuyu and Luo elders are currently in Nyeri for a one-of-a-kind event, not witnessed in recent years.

Over 2,000 elders from the two communities are expected to lead a reconciliation ceremony between the Luos and Kikuyu, which will culminate into endorsing Raila Odinga to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta next year.

“Mr Odinga is here for the purpose of peace. For now, we are not focused on politics because he has not yet declared his interests. We are focused on his ‘Azimio la Umoja’ agenda,” Kikuyu Council of Elders chair Wachira wa Kiago said on Thursday.
