Residents of Nandi Hills constituency are up in arms following the United Democratic Alliance’s (UDA) unexpected move to cancel the nomination of Alfred Keter as the UDA flagbearer.

The incumbent MP was declared the winner of the primaries held on Tuesday after garnering 10,363 votes against his closest challenger Bernard Kitur who got  7,468 votes.

Kitur then lodged a complaint with the party’s tribunal citing irregularities, hence the nullification last night.

”The upshot of the foregoing is that the alleged allegations have been proven to the required standard. Consequently, we are inclined to allow the claim before us which we hereby do.

“A declaration be and is hereby issued that the decision of the Returning Officer declaring the respondent as the presumptive nominee for the position of Member of Parliament Nandi Hills Constituency is null and void,” a statement from the committee read in part.
