Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi says DP William Ruto was not behind the spate of killings in the Rift Valley targetting Kikuyus after the contested 2007 general elections.
Speaking on Sunday in Tharaka Nithi county, Speaker Muturi blamed Mt Kenya leaders in the Azimio Coalition for spreading falsehood in the region with the sole aim of turning residents against the UDA leader. Something Mt Kenya did not witness in 2013 and 2017.

”We cannot start accusing DP Ruto of planning violence in Mt Kenya region during the 2007/2008 post-election skirmishes while we never spoke when he joined hands with Uhuru in 2013 and 2017 elections,” Speaker Muturi said.
The DP Party leader who is one of the Kenya Kwanza principals also detailed how he rejected President Uhuru Kenyatta’s offer and an invitation to Azimio, saying the Head of State had not only said Raila Odinga was unelectable as President but also he promised in 2013 he would hand over power to DP Ruto once his ten-year term elapses.
