The Azimio la Umoja Movement will be officially registered as a political party next week.
This is according to the new outfit’s leader, Raila Odinga who has also told Kenyans to brace themselves for a one-of-a-kind political season following the documentation of the new coalition party expected to bring together a rainbow of political parties under one umbrella.
Speaking on Thursday at Chungwa House in Nairobi’s Lavington Area, Mr. Odinga said ODM which he leads is part of the new vehicle, also expected to bring together President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party and allies of the two leaders.

“I’m happy that you people have joined ODM which is a member of the new group we are forming; Azimio la Umoja… Azimio la Umoja is going to be registered next week if not tomorrow… and we will start moving. Mtaona mambo mengi ikifanyika,” the former prime minister said at the orange party’s headquartes while welcoming a section of ANC party legislators into ODM.
Odinga also revealed at the meeting once the Azimio party is registered, it will be all systems go for his presidential bid. He went on to dismiss the recent union between ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and UDA leader William Ruto, whom he described as ”birds of the same feather.”

“Wale wengine wanabwekabweka…. nani amekufunga wewe? Kama unataka kwenda, kwenda kabisa…kwenda kabisan wazungu wanasema ‘birds of the same feather flock together’, kuna kitu ambayo inaunganisha hawa watu pamoja… si nyinyi mnajua? Tutatembea pamoja na wale wako na sera kama sisi… Karibuni tena. Kenya hii itachemka. Acheni kutishwa na hawa watu. Hii ni taka taka,” Odinga said.
The ODM boss, who was accompanied by the two ODM deputy party leaders Wycliffe Oparnya and Hassan Joho, and the Minority Whip of the National Assembly Junet Mohammed told the DP Ruto and his team to brace themselves for a tough political race starting next week.
