Former cabinet secretary and The Service Party (TSP) leader Mwangi Kiunjuri says there is an elaborate plan by Deputy President William Ruto and his allies in UDA to kill Mt Kenya region’s political voice by forcing everyone to join the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Speaking over the weekend in Tharaka Nithi county when opening new TSP offices, Kiunjuri, who will be going for the Laikipia East MP seat in 2022 urged Mt Kenya party leaders to remain firm in their resolve not to join UDA and instead stay in their fringe parties with roots from the vote-rich region saying it would be very dangerous for Mt Kenya leaders to join Ruto’s outfit.

“Kama vyama vya kisiasa lazima tuheshimiane, don’t say you were frustrated when you are also trying to frustrate others. it will be dangerous if we all get into one vehicle. Sasa hivi unataka kumaliza vyama vingine, lakini hujui kule mbeke kutakuwa aje. You may need us huko mbele,” he added while asking Mt Kenya voters to focus on a leader’s ability to deliver and not their political parties.
“Msichague vyama, chagueni viongozi ambao matendo yao yanaonekana. TSP ikiwaletea viongozi wabaya, msiwachagua. mtu asikuje hapa kuwaimbia wimbo ya chama, atuambie ni nini amefanya,” noted Kiunjuri.
The former cabinet secretary is currently part of the Mt Kenya Unity Forum agitating for the strengthening of smaller political parties from Mt Kenya. Other prominent members are Chama Cha Kazi leader Moses Kuria, Narc leader Martha Karua and former Kiambu governor William Kabogo among others.
