Deputy President William Ruto is back to the drawing board, revising his strategy in Mt Kenya following the unexpected entry of Martha Karua into the presidential race- something undoing the United Democratic Alliance’s (UDA) four-year gains in the vote-rich region.

After her selection as Raila Odinga’s running mate in the Azimio-One Kenya coalition on May 16th, Karua, also the Narc-Kenya party leader kicked off a whirlwind tour of her Mt Kenya backyard, the first of its kind and drawing huge multitudes in her stop-overs.

Reports indicate UDA has hit the ground making new recruitments of members who will be tasked with adopting a polling station across the region, to protect the UDA vote.
