Wiper Patriotic Front (WFP) leaders from the Coast region have thrown their weight behind Kalonzo Musyoka’s presidential ambitions, demanding that he be handed the United Opposition’s presidential ticket ahead of the August 2027 General Election.
Led by Coast regional chairman Dr John Chamia, the leaders warned that Wiper would rather walk out of the opposition coalition and pursue an independent political path than accept a deal that sidelines Kalonzo.
They ruled out any possibility of Kalonzo settling for the Deputy President’s position, insisting that he must be the flag bearer and not anybody’s running mate.
The leaders argued that Kalonzo stood with the late Raila Odinga in previous presidential contests and that the time had come for other opposition leaders to reciprocate by backing his presidential bid.
They also dismissed speculation of a possible political arrangement between Kalonzo and President William Ruto, insisting that Wiper’s focus remains on securing the presidency through the opposition.
