Junet: William Ruto should stop demeaning women

Azimio Coalition Secretary General Junet Mohamed on Saturday asked Deputy President William Ruto to stop demeaning women and respect the Azimio la Umoja presidential running mate Martha Karua.

Speaking in Narok county at a rally, also attended by the Azimio flagbearer Raila Odinga, the Suna East MP told DP Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza brigade to stop giving Hon. Karua labels and instead call her by her name.

Nimesikia amesema Raila amechukua mama mmoja hapa. Wewe wacha madharau. Heshimu wamama. Yule mama anaitwa Honorable Martha Karua. Wacha madharau tafadhali,” Junet said during the Azimio campaign rally at Kilgoris.

”We have told Ruto we don’t have an issue with his campaigns but the insults towards an honourable, learned and humble woman such as Martha Karua is wrong,” he added.

On Friday, Deputy President William Ruto poured cold water on Azimio la Umoja flagbearer Raila Odinga’s decision to pick Martha Karua as his running mate, saying the ODM leader was confused in his decision while discrediting Karua’s position in Azimio as the second most powerful leader after Mr. Odinga.

”Wale tunashindana nao have nothing original, ni utapeli na ukora. Wakati walisikia tunapanga mambo ya mama mboga, yule mtu wa kitendawili alikimbia na kumchukua mama moja na kumfanya running mate wake, kwa sababu ya kuchanganikiwa,” DP Ruto said in Embu at a meeting with UDA supporters.
