The Jubilee Party convened this morning to decide the fate of DP William Ruto and his allies in the new United Democratic Alliance. The outfit’s top decision-making organ, the National Management Committee (NMC) met this morning over a move by UDA to block its divorcing from their Jubilee Coalition union which has turned sour.
“I received a letter from UDA and the Jubilee NMC shall deliberate on the content of that letter. The NMC will then direct the party on what to do next,” Jubilee Secretary-General Raphael Tuju told a local publication on Monday.
Last week, Jubilee Secretary General Veronica Mwangi protested the move by Jubilee Party to severe its earlier ties with UDA (formerly PDP).
”The relevant organs of the coalition parties shall undertake the appropriate arbitration processes in a bid to resolve the dispute and update you on the outcome thereof,” UDA Secretary General’s letter to Registrar of Political parties, Ms. Anne Nderitu reads.
Eventhough a section of Jubilee Party’s leadership is pushing for the divorce, other members believe William Ruto is laying a trap for proponents of the divorce, by taking the court route.
“We have detected their monkey business and we know their plan is to delay us with several legal battles. We don’t want to fall into their traps. If need be, we may abandon this course altogether,” a senior party member said.
