Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho is expected in Kiambaa to drum up support for the Jubilee Party candidate Karanja Kariri Njama, HiviPunde can authoritatively report.

This revelation comes just three days after senior Jubilee and ODM Party officials announced to the public their scheme to merge the two outfits into an alliance for the August 2022 polls.

A highly placed source who spoke to this writer says Joho, who recently held a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta expressed his willingness to the Head of State to join the campaign trail of Mr. Njama, as a measure of reciprocity towards Jubilee Party’s support in the November 2019 Kibra by-election.

”The president accepted the offer and he (Joho) is heading to Kiambaa with the ODM batallion. Jubilee wars will also be fought by ODM going forward,” the source said.

ODM and Jubilee are working on a coalition for the 2022 elections which will see for the first time since 2002, a number of ODM Leaders campaign in the Mt. Kenya region while Mt. Kenya leaders also traverse ODM strongholds.

Joho, the number two in ODM after Party Leader Raila Odinga, was one of the early embracers of the Handshake between President Uhuru and Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, and remains the duo’s important ally.

In Kiambaa, where Jubilee is facing UDA in a do-or-die duel, a win by Jubilee will bolster Uhuru’s hand in the 2022 succession gameplan.

Joho will be accompanied by several Jubilee and ODM leaders.
