Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has warned President William Ruto sternly, urging him to maintain unity within the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party amid rising tensions and allegations of an impeachment plot against him.
Speaking at a church service at the Pentecostal Evangelistic Fellowship of Africa (PEFA) Church in Thika Town over the weekend, Gachagua emphasized the importance of loyalty and cautioned against betrayal politics.
“I would like to ask my boss, President William Ruto, to be cautious and do the right thing. Let’s keep our house together,” Gachagua stated, adding that if Ruto fails to keep his promise of ensuring his deputy is not humiliated, he risks losing trust.
The Deputy President warned that betrayal could have serious repercussions, saying, “Our people hate betrayal and they are very unforgiving if you betray them.” He reminded Ruto of past attempts to undermine him, asserting that the people stood firm against such actions.
Gachagua further cautioned that the ongoing division within UDA threatens the party’s unity, stating, “If the house collapses, it will not be remade again.” He hinted at external influences seeking to fracture the party for their own political gain and insisted that the contributions of the Mount Kenya region to the Kenya Kwanza Government must be respected.
As tensions mount, Gachagua’s remarks reflect a critical moment for the administration, calling for immediate attention to internal party dynamics.
