The rivalry between Deputy President William Ruto and Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu went a notch higher on Tuesday when the DP hosted a section of MCAs from the Kitui County Assembly at his Karen residence in Nairobi, where impeachment of their governor Ms. Ngilu was discussed.

The meeting came just hours after Governor Ngilu trashed the DP’s apology to a Turkish investor who was deported back to his country over his dubious transactions in the country.
”Ala! Kwani kuna serikali ngapi huku Kenya? Bw’ DP, which GoK are you apologizing on behalf? The Government of Kenya arrested the alleged terror financier. The confusion you have been sowing in government and across the country sasa umeanza ku-export to our trading partners?” Ms. Ngilu wondered on Twitter.
While she was busy condemning Ruto’s controversial apology on Twitter, in Karen a meeting was underway attended by 15 MCAs and MP Nimrod Mbai of Kitui East on how an impeachment motion against the governor will be drafted and tabled before the County Assembly in coming days.

The Kitui Governor is a marked woman by the UDA team, considering her close relationship with Raila Odinga. A number of political pundits believe she will be one of the key figures Raila Odinga will be relying on to win the Lower Eastern vote next year. Ngilu, also a Narc Kenya Party leader is boldly coming out to take on Ruto publicly and has in the last couple of days dismissed the Bottom-up theory of re-building the country’s economy, as proposed by UDA.
