Completely removed from Sifuna’s rants about the late Raila Odinga’s repatriation and interment is the fact that Raila Odinga wrote in his WILL [that] he should be buried 72 hours after his demise.
It did not matter where he died. Had he died in Australia, or Mongolia, the 72-hour had to either be met or disregarded.
There were two decisions to be urgently made. To respect Raila’s Will with regard to his burial timelines, or to disregard it. The family chose to respect the Will.
Once the decision to respect Raila’s Will was made, the next decision was how to implement it. Three routes were available: the family takes charge and does everything, or, the family hands the matter to ODM; or, the family hands the matter to the State.
The family in their wisdom handed over the planning to the State.
The State then had to achieve a 72-hour ticking deadline.
The government of Kenya would have preferred an elaborate final send-off, as were many friends of Raila Odinga across the world.
Distance between Kerala, where Raila died, and Mumbai, is 1437KM. By flight the distance is 980KM which takes under 2hrs (big
).
The Government of India provided Military Transportation of the remains to Mumbai.
By the time Sifuna took the 6hr flight from Nairobi to Mumbai, Raila’s body had arrived, awaiting the Kenyan journey.
Raila supporters should always bear in mind that Raila Odinga gave a 72-hour window to cross the bridge.
Raila Odinga knew that Edwin Sifuna was a lawyer but never trusted his Will with him. Raila Odinga also knew that James Orengo was a lawyer (and senior counsel) but never used his law firm to handle his Will.
Raila wrote his Will with advocate Jack Awele. When he passed, Awele dutifully read the Will to the family.
Till today, none in the Raila family — or the larger Odinga family — is question. Mama Ida once said she was really frustrated with the Will on that aspect: the difficulty in mourning Baba in under 72hrs, but that was what he had placed in his will.
They still hate the fact that President Ruto gave Raila Odinga a befitting send-off. They were desperate for the final humiliation. A void exists in their dark hearts.
They will never stop manufacturing outrageous claims, to darken the silver lining .
Sifuna who passes himself as a presidential material (all dreams are valid) should tell the country what he would have done differently, had he been the President at the passing of Raila Odinga.
Time will expose Edwin Sifuna. Time.
