Cornered Mudavadi under pressure to back Odinga at the polls

Amani National Congress (ANC) Musalia Mudavadi is under intense pressure both from within his political outfit and from State House operatives currently shaping President Uhuru’s succession, to throw his weight behind ODM leader Raila Odinga.

This latest move by a section of the president’s strategists is informed by the fact that both Odinga and Mudavadi, plus Uhuru Kenyatta have a common enemy in DP William Ruto whom they have resolved will not take over as president next year.

According to ANC Party chairperson Ayub Savula, the latest attempts to have their party leader out of the presidential race is an elaborate plan being schemed by powerful individuals in State House as well as those in government, but they will fail and that the former Vice President is on the race to the end.

”That script is being fronted by some powerful individuals and government bureaucrats who are pushing Mudavadi and some of our members to support Raila, but we want to assure our supporters that his name will be on the ballot paper next year,” the Lugari MP told a local publication on Monday.

Savula’s statement was supported by Vihiga Woman Rep Beatrice Adagala who has told her party leader it makes no sense for him to be supporting Raila when he (Mudavadi) has what it takes to lead the country next year.
