Questions Raised Over DCP Party Leader’s 45-Day Political Break Amid UK Visit Deals Claims

Speculation is intensifying following the announcement that DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua will take a 45-day break from active politics, a move that has sparked debate and raised questions within political circles.

The announcement comes after a series of political and travel plans that had initially suggested a busy domestic and international schedule.

Sources had earlier indicated that a planned UK visit was to last about a month before being reduced to four days.

This was followed by expectations that he would spend June in Nyeri County holding consultations with supporters and mapping out the 2027 political strategy for MCAs, MPs, and gubernatorial aspirants.

That plan was later shelved without a clear public explanation.

Further reports had also pointed to additional planned trips to the United Kingdom and the United States aimed at strengthening diaspora networks and political support structures abroad.

These engagements were eventually cancelled or postponed.

Attention has now moved to his decision to retreat to Wamunyoro for 45 days, which he has described as a period of reflection and political reorganization.

However, the timing of the retreat has fueled widespread speculation.

Some claims circulating in political and online spaces allege that discussions during a recent UK visit may have involved multi-million-shilling arrangements tied to efforts to reduce political tension, alongside efforts to make up with his former friends in government.

Gachagua was to tone down his anti-Ruto political rhetoric and had agreed to do so.

Advance payments were made in UK and more payments were to follow when he shows commitment.

Since he came back he has not done any political rally, his rhetoric has gone down, and will take 45 days hiatus to show his commitment to the deal.

Supporters of the DCP Party Leader have dismissed the claims, insisting that the 45-day break is a strategic pause meant to strengthen internal structures and refine political messaging ahead of future engagements.

Keen observers have however pointed to the abrupt changes in Gachagua’s itinerary.
