The Salary and Remuneration Commission (SRC) has stopped six allowances for all government employees as the body enforces austerity measures to lower government spending.

Allowances that will no longer be payable include; plenary sitting allowance, ministerial allowance, and taxable car allowance.

Others are retreat allowance, sitting allowance for institutional internal committees, and taskforce allowance for institutional internal committees.

The new order will affect all civil servants across the job groups, working in different Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
