Woman Rep Gathoni Wamuchomba has caused a stir online following her remarks on Wednesday morning that she would walk out of a meeting with William Ruto if President Uhuru gave her call, something which has been translated to mean her support in the Hustlers nation is not genuine as it had been imagined.

”If Uhuru Kenyatta calls me, even if I am with the Deputy President, I will walk out and rush and listen to what he wants to tell me,” the Kiambu Woman rep told Inooro TV Wednesday morning.

Wa Muchomba, previously one of President Kenyatta’s fiercest defenders in the Central Kenya region, and one of the most vocal female leaders of the ‘Kieleweke’ faction of the Jubilee Party ditched the president in June for William Ruto and his UDA outfit which has been trying to make inroads in Mt. Kenya.

“In my mind, my thoughts as a politician tell me that I follow my people. My Kiambu people have shown me that they have moved from Uhuru Kenyatta and want William Ruto and they are angry. Mt Kenya region is very angry with Uhuru. The region did not permit him to enter into a handshake deal with Raila Odinga. Therefore, I have no regrets about ditching him for Deputy President William Ruto,” the Woman Rep said in June.

Wamuchomba’s remarks come at a time when there is an increased suspicion of politicians from Mt. Kenya inside DP Ruto’s camp, with a section of DP allies outside the region saying the vote-rich region cannot be banked on to deliver a solid block to UDA next year.
