President Uhuru Kenyatta changed his flight schedule last minute to fly to Mombasa from London, where he has been on a one-week state visit. The head of state was expected to land at the JKIA on Sunday and senior security chiefs were at the venue to receive him only to be informed the president was landing in Mombasa.
According to media reports President Uhuru is set to hold a series of meetings with the extended Kenyatta family between tomorrow and Wednesday, then later fly back to Nairobi for a number of funerals, including consoling with the family of Cabinet Secretary for Sports Amina Mohammed who lost her husband Khalil Ahmed on Thursday.

Next weekend on Sunday, the president will be in Western Kenya for a two-day state visit, where he is set to commission national projects in Kakamega and Vihiga counties.
Earlier, ODM leader Raila Odinga had revealed in Muranga last week that he, together with the head of state is kicking off series of joint political activities across the country in their bid to strengthen the handshake at the grassroots snd unify Kenyans ahead of 2022.

”We are here today and you can see the face of Kenya. Now from Gatanga we are marking the beginning of a new journey. When I said we were working on something, some people did not believe me. But now it’s starting from here. The resolve to unite Kenya as a result of the Handshake begins here. Next week we shall be in Nyanza, then move to Western then Coast. We shall criss-cross the entire country to unite Kenya as one nation with Uhuru standing on one side and Raila on the other,” Mr Odinga said on July 29th.
