Second poll shows Abdulswamad still most preferred as Mombasa governor

A second poll in two weeks shows Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir is still the most preferred candidate to fly the ODM ticket in the county’s gubernatorial race.

Two weeks ago, Infotrak survey in Mombasa showed MP Nassir enjoys the support of 48 percent of Mombasa residents with his closest competitor Suleiman Shahbal coming second at 18 percent.

Today April 4th, a poll by the Consortium of Researchers on Governance (CoRG Africa) on Coast Region Key Issues and Gubernatorial Aspirants Survey shows the youthful legislator is ahead of the race at 42.5%, and businessman Suleiman Shahbal following closely at 23.6%.

Other competitors are Hassan Omar (12.6%), Ali Mbogo (11%), Hezron Awiti (4.7%), and William Kingi (2.4%).

Abdulswamad, an ODM stalwart is a two-term Mvita legislator, emerging as a formidable political force in the county and an astute leader from the region who is tipped to win the party’s ticket.
