Gubernatorial candidates Sam Ongeri (Kisii), Dalmas Otieno, and John Pesa, both seeking the Migori seat will not be on the ballot and will be withdrawing their candidatures in favor of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) aspirants going for the same seats in their respective counties.

According to credible sources from the Azmio-One Kenya coalition, Jubilee, ODM, and DAP-Kenya Parties have agreed to rally behind ODM in Luo-Nyanza, a move the ODM Party seemed to have reciprocated in Bungoma and Trans Nzoia counties regarded as DAP-Kenya bases and in Kakamega, where ODM is producing the governor, and DAP-K the deputy governor.

In Vihiga, former speaker Kenneth Marende, a DAP-Kenya aspirant who was facing ODM’s Wilberforce Otichillo in the governor’s race stepped down in favor of the current governor, after he was assured of the Senate Speaker’s position.

Raila Odinga and his Azimio running mate Martha Karua are expected to hold a five-day campaign tour of the Nyanza region between June 13 and June 19. It is during these tours that Sam Ongeri, Dalmas Otieno, and John Pesa are to drop their gubernatorial bids.
