Days after Uhuru Kenyatta turned down his offer to meet, President William Ruto has ordered his deputy Rigathi Gachagua and UDA politicians to stop their verbal attacks on the former president and his family as a strategy to help contain Azimio leader Raila Odinga.
UDA parliamentarians especially those from Mt Kenya who have been attacking the former president in the region have been instructed to immediately halt their incessant attacks on the Kenyatta family owing to fears that it continues to strengthen the Kenyatta-Odinga bond which is fatal to the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“The heat is increasing in the camp because of Baba’s actions at a time when we are facing an economic meltdown. We are not at peace because we do not know what Baba’s mass action would lead to and that is why some of us have been asking our bosses not to go after Uhuru and his allies,” one of the leaders from Mount Kenya is quoted by the media.
According to reports, President Ruto has also resolved to go slow on former senior state officials targeted for prosecution by his administration, following fears that their arraignment could poison the political environment and fuel anti-government sentiments.
Yesterday, there were protests in Kisumu, Luanda, Mbale, and Vihiga towns with residents calling for the lowering of the cost of living which they claimed has brought horror to their lives.
