Raila’s man moved to Defense Ministry in surprise cabinet reshuffle

President Uhuru Kenyatta has made a surprise cabinet reshuffle which has seen three Cabinet Secretaries moved from their ministries into new dockets. However, it is the posting of Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa to the Defense ministry which has caught the attention of may Kenyans online.

 CS Charles Keter is moved from the Energy ministry to Devolution and Monica Juma from Defence to Energy.

”In of the presidential prerogative vested in the Head of State and Government under Article 132 of the Constitution, as read together with Articles 152 and 155 of the Constitution, His Excellency the president has instituted portfolio re-assignments in his Cabinet and in the ranks of Principal Secretaries,” a statement from State House this afternoon reads.

The CS, a staunch ally of ODM leader Raila Odinga has been holding the Devolution docket from the time President Uhuru Kenyatta took over his second term in 2018.

CS Wamalwa has been one of the prominent figures around the former prime minister in his tours of the Western region and it is believed he will be playing a critical role in helping Mr. Odinga galvanize his support in the populous region.
